Mummies

20 portions

DBL-      Original recipe- 12 portions-

4.5 t      2 1/4 teaspoon dry active yeast
2c         1 cup warm water
4T         2 tablespoon granulated sugar
4T         2 tablespoon oil (I used olive oil)
4-6c       2  1/2 – 3 cups all-purpose flour
4t           2 teaspoon salt

12 hot dogs
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk

  1. In the bowl with a whisk, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water.  When the yeast becomes foamy, add  oil, 2-4 cups of the flour, and salt.  mix until combined.  Knead  for about 7 minutes, stopping to add flour (up to one cup more).  The dough should stick to the bottom of the bowl but not to the sides.  It should be slightly sticky with no visible flour.
  2. Remove the dough from the bowl, oil the bowl, and place the dough back into the bowl.  Cover and let rise for one hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Punch the dough down and roll into a log.  Cut the dough into 12 equal portions.  Roll each portion into eight-inch pieces, and twist around the hot dogs.  Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. To make the egg wash, whisk one egg with one tablespoon of milk.  Brush the top of each dough wrapped hot dog, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Orange Chicken

Recipes- from Mondern Honey and Cooking With Mima

The chicken-

  • 6 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts cut into bite-size pieces
  • 4 Eggs whisked
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • Salt
  • Oil for frying
  • (optional- can add seasonings to the flour mixture)
  • tsp. black pepper or less to taste, fresh ground
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. paprika to add color to the chicken
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Orange sauce- I bought Soy Vay- Orange Ginger sauce

Next time I'll use this Orange sauce recipe-
  • 1 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Rice Vinegar or White Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce use tamari for a gluten-free dish
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder or 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Flakes
  • Orange Zest from 1 orange
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
  • sliced onions

  • Dice the chicken into ½ inch cube pieces and place in a bowl. Add in the flour, corn starch, salt, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and ginger powder to coat the chicken. Amy's addition (I probably doubled all the flour ingredients and seasoning and let all the seasonings sit on the chicekn for about 20 min. Then I put all the chicken on a cookie sheet at 500 degrees for about 20 min.)
  • Or you can cook the chicken on the stove top........In a deep frying pan, bring the oil to medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown. Takes about 2-3 minutes. Do no over cook or else it will become chewy.
  • Meanwhile, whisk all the sauce ingredients and a bowl. Transfer to a hot non stick skillet or frying pan and cook on low-heat, simmering until the sauce thickens up.
  • Transfer the fried chicken to the sauce and mix to coat well. Let the sauce and chicken simmer together for 1-2 minutes and then remove from heat.
  • Serve with homemade Lo Mein Noodles or white rice. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions. (optional)

Prayer

Nelson- april 2003

Elder nelson didn't know how to perform a surgery on a man's heart, the man came to Elder Nelson and said I have faith you will know what to do when you get into the surgery. Sure enough elder nelson went into surgery and was given ideas of how to help stitch and heal the mans heart.

to me this is very interesting the man telling elder nelson I know you can do this, like the story of Nephi getting the plates from laban, he didn't know before hand what he should do. As we trust God and our own skills and talents with the faith of friends, family, neighbors we can be and witness healing and uniting for each other.

Oct 2009 Packer

When temptation comes, you can invent a delete key in your mind—perhaps the words from a favorite hymn. Your mind is in charge; your body is the instrument of your mind. When some unworthy thought pushes into your mind, replace it with your delete key. Worthy music is powerful and can help you control your thoughts.10

Learn to pray. Pray often. Pray in your mind, in your heart. Pray on your knees. Prayer is your personal key to heaven. The lock is on your side of the veil. And I have learned to conclude all my prayers with “Thy will be done” (Matthew 6:10; see also Luke 11:23 Nephi 13:10).

Oct 1989, Scott

When He answers yes, it is to give us confidence.

When He answers no, it is to prevent error.

When He withholds an answer, it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth. We are expected to assume accountability by acting on a decision that is consistent with His teachings without prior confirmation. We are not to sit passively waiting or to murmur because the Lord has not spoken. We are to act.

April 2018, Nelson

We live in a world that is complex and increasingly contentious. The constant availability of social media and a 24-hour news cycle bombard us with relentless messages. If we are to have any hope of sifting through the myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn to receive revelation.

“Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses—yes, the very longings of your heart.

And then listen!

Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will ‘grow into the principle of revelation.’”

---Paragraph 96---

To be sure, there may be times when you feel as though the heavens are closed. But I promise that as you continue to be obedient, expressing gratitude for every blessing the Lord gives you, and as you patiently honor the Lord’s timetable, you will be given the knowledge and understanding you seek. Every blessing the Lord has for you—even miracles—will follow. That is what personal revelation will do for you.

You don’t have to wonder about what is true.11 You do not have to wonder whom you can safely trust. Through personal revelation, you can receive your own witness that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Joseph Smith is a prophet, and that this is the Lord’s Church. Regardless of what others may say or do, no one can ever take away a witness borne to your heart and mind about what is true.

Elder Stevensnon, Promptings of the Spirit, Oct' 23

"you can prepare yourself, but you cannot dictate how or when inspiration comes. Be patient and trust that you will receive what you need when the time is right.

“We should study things out in our minds. … Then we should pray for guidance and act upon it. … If we do not receive guidance, we should act upon our best judgment.”

“Becoming more attuned to the language of the Spirit is like learning another language. It is a gradual process that requires diligent, patient effort.”

Many of you start your day by standing in front of a mirror. Tomorrow, this week, this year, always, pause as you look at yourself in the mirror. Think to yourself, or say aloud if you like, “Wow, look at me! I am awesome! I am a child of God! He knows me! He loves me! I am gifted—gifted with the Holy Ghost as my constant companion!”
